The 8-HOUSE CALENDAR is a Southern Hemisphere seasonal, equinox-anchored, Fibonacci-fractal calendar built on a 360-day living year,
with Liminal days placed outside ordinary time.
Below is a futher explanation of what is it and how it works.
The calendar structure is:
8 Houses × 3 Pentads × 3 Quintiles × 5 Days = 360 Living Days
Then the year ends with:
The Liminal = Sep 18–22
Leap Liminal = Feb 29 in leap years
Every 8-HOUSE year begins on September 23, making the calendar a fixed perpetual grid.
1. Houses — the big seasonal chapters
The outer ring is divided into 8 Houses. Each House lasts 45 days. Houses are the main seasonal chapters of the year.
| House | Name | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| H1 | The Quickening | Spring ignition, life returning, first movement. |
| H2 | The Surge | Growth, expansion, pressure rising. |
| H3 | The Crest | Summer height, abundance, peak force. |
| H4 | The Hardening | Heat, endurance, form, consolidation. |
| H5 | The Turning | Autumn shift, descent begins, soil and change. |
| H6 | The Falling | Cooling, stripping back, surrender, wintering. |
| H7 | The Deep | Inner dark, mystery, rest, underworld time. |
| H8 | The Dreaming | Imagination before spring, seed-before-seed. |
2. Pentads — the 15-day light phases
Each House contains 3 Pentads. Each Pentad lasts 15 days.
| Pentad | Name | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Lumen | First light, beginning, emergence. |
| 2 | Radiance | Active brightness, force moving outward. |
| 3 | Brilliance | Peak expression, clarity, result. |
Lumen → Radiance → Brilliance
3. Quintiles — the 5-day weeks
Each Pentad contains 3 Quintiles. Each Quintile lasts 5 days. These are the closest equivalent to weeks.
| Quintile | Name | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Ignite | Begin, activate, set the spark. |
| 2 | Ascend | Build, climb, strengthen. |
| 3 | Crown | Complete, reveal, bring to form. |
Ignite → Ascend → Crown
4. Days — the 5-day repeating cycle
Each Quintile contains 5 named days. This cycle repeats through the whole 360-day living year.
| Day | Name | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Spark | Start, decide, initiate. |
| 2 | Anchor | Ground, stabilise, prepare. |
| 3 | Forge | Build, repair, labour, make. |
| 4 | Beacon | Signal, share, communicate. |
| 5 | Seal | Finish, close, commit, mark complete. |
Spark → Anchor → Forge → Beacon → Seal
5. Date notation
The date notation uses four numbers:
House.Pentad.Quintile.Day
Example:
6.1.2.4
| Position | Value | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 6 | House 6 | The Falling |
| 1 | Pentad 1 | Lumen |
| 2 | Quintile 2 | Ascend |
| 4 | Day 4 | Beacon |
6.1.2.4 = The Falling · Lumen · Ascend · Beacon
6. The Liminal
The Liminal is not part of the 360-day living year. It sits outside the ordinary grid.
The Liminal = Sep 18–22
These are the 5 year-end reset days. They are useful for review, archiving, cleaning up unfinished work, resetting plans, and preparing for the next year.
7. Leap Liminal
In leap years, Feb 29 becomes Leap Liminal. It is also outside ordinary time.
This prevents the calendar from shifting. The living grid stays stable forever.

9. How to read the wheel
Read the wheel from outside to inside:
House → Pentad → Quintile → Day → Liminal Centre
A full date is built as:
House.Pentad.Quintile.Day
10. Practical use
Use Gregorian dates for outside-world obligations: school, invoices, appointments, vets, banks, government paperwork, and normal scheduling.
Use the 8-HOUSE Calendar for rhythm: planning, journaling, farm work, software cycles, creative projects, and reflection.
